Meet the Hamilton's
HILLIARD, OHIO: A family rooted in love deals with the aftermath of a horrific car accident that left their eight year old daughter paralyzed (chest down). And, we have an opportunity to provide hope. Dot’s Tots Foundation is seeking to raise $30,000 to cover the cost of a lift to/from the family’s basement to grant Naomi access to all parts of the family home. And, to retrofit a bathroom to handicap accessibility.
Can we count on you?

"We are the Hamiltons—Tyler, JoAnna, Axl, Cooper, Naomi, Locke— a family of 6 living and loving life in Hilliard, Ohio since Tyler’s job brought us north from our home state of Kentucky 6 years ago.
Our lives were forever changed on the 10th when I, JoAnna, with all four children were driving to meet Tyler at a friend’s birthday party in our own neighborhood. As we waited, sitting still to turn left, we were struck from behind by another vehicle. This driver was distracted, so much so that she did not brake before impact. Axl and Naomi were sitting in the backseat, sustaining the worst injuries. Cooper suffered whiplash and Locke was hit by the driver’s seat when it broke and fell backwards onto his lap, breaking one of his legs.
Axl had 9 fractures in his neck and upper back, his tibia and fibula were both broken, and he suffered a traumatic brain injury which rendered him unable to move his right side or speak. Axl spent 5 weeks in the hospital and with continued rehab has made a remarkable recovery. He has no braces or casts, walks normally and is very busy with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, and 7th grade!
Naomi has proven herself to be the strongest little 8 year old girl we know. She, too, had many fractures in her neck and required surgery to stabilize the vertebrae. Her traumatic brain injury caused left side weakness which she worked hard to regain! Naomi could not feel or move her legs after the accident and after waiting hopefully for some sensation or mobility to return we eventually had to accept her diagnosis of a T5 complete spinal cord injury (chest down). She spent 7 weeks in the hospital and rehab. She has full use of her arms and we are so very grateful for that as it has allowed her to work and make progress every day toward new goals of independence. This path she must follow has been so very hard and we are doing everything we possibly can to support her and provide her with an accessible life. Before the accident nothing in our lives was accessible, so we have all had an abrupt awareness to the many steps we need to take to make sure she has access to everything we want her to have and do from a wheelchair."
