Meet JoJo!
JoJo is a funny, sweet, kind, strong, 11 year old who has been on quite the healthy journey over the years. In 2020 sweet JoJo started experiencing migraines and small tics such as eye movements, cheek fluttering, and jerking head movements. She began having seizures and stroke like episodes that would cause her to be very confused and unresponsive. After being prescribed a medication to help with these systems, the medication had adverse effects causing much more pain and further treatment. That further treatment led to an MRI of her brain and lower spine which revealed two spinal lipomas. JoJo was then diagnosed with a rare, debilitating neurodevelopment disorder EBF3 also known as HADDS. Upon her diagnosis, JoJo was the only known HADDS case in Ohio and she is one of less than 1,000 cases worldwide.
There are still countless unknowns regarding treatment and what JoJo's future may look like. She is still very active, with a strong love for soccer, and has a fun-loving spirit and positive attitude! Understandably though, this journey has caused JoJo to develop a panic disorder along with social and separation anxiety.
